Doxology (Sing to the Lord)

Sing to the Lord, exalt His name;
O, make His praise glorious.
Pour forth His praise,
His anthem raise;
Rejoice in Him forever, forever.

Sing to the Lord, exalt His name;
O, make His praise glorious.
Pour forth His praise,
His anthem raise;
Rejoice in Him forever.

To Father, Son and Holy Ghost,
The God whom heaven and earth adore,
From men and from the angel host
Be praise and glory evermore.

Commentary -

This sung doxology is made up of the bridge and final verse of the hymn setting of All People That On Earth Do Dwell (available in the Hymn Settings catalog). The text of Sing to the Lord is based on the first few verses of Psalm 66: “Shout joyfully to God, all the earth; sing the glory of His name; make His praise glorious!”(NASB) The hymn tune of the doxology is perhaps best known with the words, “Praise God from whom all blessings flow …” Because of its strong declaration of praise and faith, we often sing this to conclude a time of spoken prayers of invocation. But the imperative phrases, “Sing to the Lord, exalt His name, … rejoice in Him forever,” make this a wonderful song within a worship set of songs and/or hymns that speak of singing and glorifying God.

Key: E, modulating to F

Doxology (Sing to the Lord) is available as a lead sheet and as vocal line with piano accompaniment.
