Description -

The four Sundays of Advent mark the first season of the Christian year. As did the ancient church, in this Advent season we joyfully remember the first coming of Jesus to His earth, and at the same time look forward with joyful expectation to His coming again in glory. As we worship, we ponder with great thanksgiving our life now, “in the meantime,” and celebrate with wonder that God has called us to join His story.

Each Sunday carries a theme – Hope, Love, Joy, Peace. This four-week journey of Advent is a time of preparation, both personally and for the Church corporately, as we anticipate the coming of the King. You may read more about the season of Advent and the four Sundays within it in the Reflections section of the website here.

Each liturgy in this collection, like all of the Clerestory Notes liturgies, follows the flow and cadence of God's revelation and our response, as reflected in the fourfold pattern of worship – Acts of Gathering, Word, Table, and Sending Forth – and is based on the liturgical year readings of the Revised Common Lectionary. And like other resources in the Liturgy Folio, each of the Advent liturgies includes commentary and explanatory notes on the weekly theme, readings and litanies, prayers, and music.

Liturgy collections are intended as resources for preparing, planning, and leading worship. The readings, prayers, benedictions, and “words about worship” may be freely used, provided that no part of such reproduction is sold, directly or indirectly; and with the following restrictions –
When you include any of these liturgy resources in printed orders of worship, pew sheets or similar publications for congregational or small group use, notes, articles, blog entries, or any other such publications (printed or digital), you must include this acknowledgement:
